Setting Up 2FA
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second layer of security to your Boottify account. Even if someone obtains your password, they cannot sign in without the second factor.
Prerequisites
- An authenticator app installed on your phone (e.g. Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password).
- Access to your Boottify account settings.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Open Settings → Security.
- Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.
- Enter the current 6-digit code (it rotates every 30 seconds) and click Verify.
Backup Codes
After enabling 2FA you receive 10 single-use backup codes. Store them in a password manager or print them and keep them somewhere safe. You can regenerate the codes from the security panel at any time (this invalidates the old set).
Signing In With 2FA
After password sign-in you are prompted for a code. Use either:
- A 6-digit TOTP code from your authenticator app.
- A backup code (each can only be used once).
Prefer a Passkey?
If you would rather skip codes entirely, register a passkey (WebAuthn). Passkeys can optionally satisfy the 2FA requirement, so a single Touch ID or Windows Hello prompt signs you in.
Disabling 2FA
You can disable 2FA from the security panel. Disabling requires re-entering your password for safety.
