Setting Up 2FA

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a critical layer of security to your account. Even if someone obtains your password, they won't be able to sign in without the second factor.

Prerequisites

  • An authenticator app installed on your phone (e.g., Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password).
  • Access to your Boottify account settings.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Navigate to Settings → Security in the control center.
  2. Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. A QR code will appear on screen. Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code.
  4. Your authenticator app will display a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds.
  5. Enter the current 6-digit code in the verification field and click Verify.

Backup Codes

After enabling 2FA, you will receive 10 backup codes. These are one-time-use codes that let you access your account if you lose your authenticator device.

  • Download or copy these codes immediately.
  • Store them in a secure location (password manager, printed copy in a safe).
  • Each backup code can only be used once.
  • You can regenerate backup codes from the security settings if needed.

Signing In with 2FA

After enabling 2FA, the sign-in flow changes:

  1. Enter your email and password as usual.
  2. You'll be redirected to a verification page.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.
  4. Click Verify to complete sign-in.

Disabling 2FA

To disable 2FA, go to Settings → Security and click Disable 2FA. You will need to confirm with your current authenticator code or a backup code.
